Community Benefit
Positive Benefits
If successful, this project will being positive benefits to the local community. We are committed to using local suppliers where possible, employing local people and we encourage and will facilitate local community investment. Annual rates to Donegal County Council will be in the region of €33,000. We also intend to operate a good neighbour scheme for residents close to the farm.
Community fund
A community fund will be set up for the life time of the project. If the project is approved and constructed with 5 small wind turbines, we estimate that a total of €2 million will be made available to the local area through community funding over the next 25 years. This figure is an estimate and will depend on number of factors – to include capacity and output of the turbines. Our community support fund will be tied to gross turnover, initially and then to gross profit.
Who Benefits
The community fund will be available to local groups, local organisations and local schools within a 12km radius of the windfarm.
The community fund will be paid out annually, starting one year after the windfarm starts producing electricity.
